The Department of Physics & Astronomy is dedicated to educating the next generation of physicists by providing them with access to world-class educators, exciting research opportunities, and state of the art classroom and research facilities. Several funds within the department help support these activities.
The department provides the Professor Newton Gaines Scholarships in physics, the Joseph Morgan Physics Scholarship, and the Dr. C.A.Quarles Undergraduate Scholarship in Physics and Astronomy to help support the education of exceptional students. The department also established a fund for the Joseph Morgan Lecture. This lecture brings in experts from a variety of fields to present their research, and exposes our students to the most recent advances in physics.
Departmental research programs examine galaxy and star formation, develop diagnostic and imaging techniques to battle cancer, study infectious diseases and optimize their treatment, and investigate the properties of new materials.
If you would like to support the activities of the department, you can donate through TCU’s Make-a-gift.
