Physics Minors

Physics Minor

Students can opt to complete a minor in physics to supplement their chosen major.

Required courses:
PHYS 10154 General Physics I with Lab
PHYS 10164 General Physics II with Lab
OR
PHYS 20474 Physics I with Lab
PHYS 20484 Physics II with Lab

Required hours:
18 hours of physics (including required courses)
AND
6 hours of upper-division physics courses (30000 or above)

Astronomy Minor

Students can opt to complete a minor in physics to supplement their chosen major.

Required courses:
PHYS 10273 Introductory Astronomy: Earth and Planets
PHYS 10263 Cosmic Origins

Required hours:

6 hours selected from:
PHYS 10154 General Physics I with Laboratory
OR
PHYS 20474 Physics I with Laboratory: Mechanics
PHYS 10164 General Physics II with Laboratory
OR
PHYS 20484 Physics II with Laboratory: Electromagnetism and Optics
GEOL 10113 Understanding the Earth
PHYS 10293 Archeoastronomy
AND
6 hours of upper-division physics courses (30000 or above)

Applied Physics Minor

The applied physics minor is designed for engineering majors but is open to all majors.

Required courses:
PHYS 20474 Physics I with Lab
PHYS 20484 Physics II with Lab
PHYS 30493 Physics III Modern Physics
3 hours of upper-division physics courses (30000 or above)
4 hours of research selected from PHYS 30003, 40003, 40103,  or 50970
